Calathea Medallion is the calathea that looks hand-painted: big oval leaves in deep green with a silver-green feather fanned out from the center vein of every leaf, and rich purple undersides. It is bold, tidy, and instantly recognizable - the round leaves really do sit on the plant like medallions.
It is also the friendliest of the fancy calatheas. It wants the family routine - steady moisture, decent light, no neglect - but it forgives the occasional late watering better than its pickier cousins. Like every prayer plant, it folds its leaves up at night and opens them again in the morning.
Why You'll Love It
- Feathered silver-green pattern on every leaf, purple beneath
- The classic, most-loved calathea pattern
- Completely non-toxic to cats and dogs
- Easier-going than most patterned calatheas
Plant Care

- Difficulty: Easy for a calathea - steady routine, no heroics
- Growth: Compact and bushy, to about two feet
- Humidity: Enjoys humidity; average rooms are workable
- Pet Friendly: Yes - listed non-toxic to cats and dogs
